General Motors, Flint North V6 Engine
Flint North - V6 Engine, located at Flint, Michigan, was planning a production derate on June 1, 2004. Engine production was to be reduced from 2250 engines a day to 1700 engines a day. This reduction would impact the 2nd shift operations.

In addition to, the Holden engine line was scheduled to be eliminated in the Flint Components plant. This is a loss of 480 components shipped per day, resulting in the elimination of 3rd shift at the Flint Components plant.

General Motors, Worldwide Facilities Group (WFG) Flint North was looking to know what the minimal level of employment would be for the involved functions by shift for future planning. WFG, Central, had requested that AMSS have the functions studied along with a minimum staffing report prepared. This study included the average time to repair for each type of off-line component. The average time to repair was then to be fed into a daily schedule at Flint North, provided by WFG. In addition to the above, oilers, routes and job assignment information was to be studied and established.

This project saved General Motors, Flint North, 1.2 million dollars annually.
