Environmental Operations, Willow Run Transmission requested a
Non-Skilled Indirect Labor study for the Chemical Management Team. The
study desired was two fold. First, the study was to verify the accuracy
of the Non Skilled Indirect Trade personnel that are found within
Environmental Operations. Along with verification, was the
determination of the actual required number of people to staff the
Chemical Management Team to include trade(s) required, areas of
responsibility, tasks assigned, time spent on the tasks (current state)
and shifts to be worked. The information gathered was compared to the
actual trade(s) required, number of people to be employed by trade,
actual areas of responsibility along with tasks and the times required
for performing the tasks (what if state).
Second part of the study was to list the equipment inventory found
within the responsibility of the Chemical management department.
Non-Skilled Indirect Labor Group per trade, determine tasks and
frequencies, determine optimum manpower per Non-Skilled Trade, balance
the work loads and build work assignments. End result was a “Routine”
Maintenance program for the Chemical Management department.
AMSS provided a CD with the database reflecting routine tasks, frequencies, work assignments and manpower requirements.
Benefits of this program not only included an annual savings of
$240,000.00, but allowed for more efficient means of scheduling labor
and work, managerial involvement and continuous improvement. |
